InstrumentsMayes guitars takes a new approach in building guitars. Over the past 13 years John has offered highly customizable, anything goes guitars. While that offers many people exactly what they are looking for it also comes at a price. So in pursuit of lowering prices (and in these times who doesn't need lower prices) and keeping things simple in the appointments area John is now offering only three models. The first of the new models John actually debuted a few years ago. It's the L-32. The L-32 is based off a 1932 Gibson L-00. It is a 13 frets to the body design which strikes a balance between the mellowness of a 12 fret guitar and the punchiness of a 14 fretter. John believes it's really the best of both worlds. Check out the L-32 page for more details.
The next of the new models is the SD-43. The SD-43 is based off a 1940's (1943 to be more specific) Gibson J-45. This isn't your grandma's guitar! That is, unless, your grandma loves big bold in your face tones. In which case it is, indeed, your grandmas guitar. All relatives aside this guitar is quite the stark contrast from the L-32. It's gritty, woody and aggressive. It's meant to be pounded on, and yet it does the singer/songwriter thing exceptionally as well. Check out the SD-43 page for more info.
Last but not least is the MJ-55. The 55 is based off a 1955 Gibson J-185. With it's sexy curved body, and the graceful lines it'll catch your eye. However there is much more to this guitar than meets the eye. Just wait till you wrap your ears around this one. It is, size wise, right between the other two models, and tone wise it covers very similar grounds between them. Full and powerful, yet rich and soulful as well. It's all up to you to bring out the potential of this guitar. Check out the MJ-55 page for more info. Base Price on all instruments is only $4200
